Le Coucou, a starred French restaurant in Soho, NYC

North America

During my recent visit to NY, I had an amazing gastronomic experience at Le Coucou! Under the command of the young and talented chef Daniel Rose, who has restaurants in France, and the restaurateur Stephen Starr, opened in 2016 in Soho, inside the elegant 11 Howard Hotel. With a Michelin star, it has a welcoming atmosphere, lovely decor and attentive service. In addition, of course, to delicate and tasty dishes. This starred French restaurant in Soho certainly deserves to be on your list! In fact, take the opportunity to also read about Park Lane New York and the city’s news for this year.

Star-studded French restaurant in Soho

With high ceilings, the space with capacity for 80 people, designed by the architecture studio Roman and Williams, is charming and romantic, with beautiful chandeliers and bricks on the walls. The open kitchen makes the space even more cozy, as does the bar. Furthermore, Le Coucou has great space between tables and excellent acoustics. Also noteworthy is the friendly staff, who, in fact, speak several languages.

The menu

The menu features classic French cuisine but with contemporary touches. Therefore, the traditional steak tartare de boeuf couldn’t be missed. I also bet on one of the house’s flagships, the Maine Lobster, with sauce pepper e dauphine potatoes, which are super crispy potato puffs. Everything divine!

Meanwhile, desserts are a separate chapter. Among the lunch options are Marjolaine, a cake with hazelnut cream and chocolate ganache, and the pie Honored Saint, com creme chiboust. Impeccable French classics!

The starred French restaurant in New York also has a great wine list!

About the chef

Despite being born in the United States, more precisely in Chicago, this is the chef’s first venture in the country. After graduating in France, he moved to Lyon, and had the privilege of studying at Lyon’s culinary school. Bocuse Institute. Therefore, in 2006 he launched Spring, where there is no fixed menu, and focused on seasonal ingredients. In 2015, Daniel opened his second restaurant in Paris, La Bourse et La Vie, an authentic French bistro.
