When I first went to Tulum I ended up just visiting Ruins Beach, which, as the name suggests, is located in the city’s famous ruins. But on my last trip, I included in the itinerary the Paradise Beachundoubtedly one of the most beautiful in the region.
The crystal clear waters with blue tones, the white sand, the good structure and the crowd much smaller than Carmen beach are some of the factors that make it, in my opinion, the best beach in Tulum.
PLAYA PARAISO IN TULUM
Playa Paraiso It’s not too far from the ruins and I even went on foot, as I will say below. It is in fact almost a continuation, towards the south, of the Ruins Beachwhich is in Tulum Archaeological Zone.

Although it is one of the most “instagrammable” beaches in the region and chosen twice by Tripadvisor’s Travellers Choice as the best in Mexico, it’s not usually that crowded. This is one of the factors that make this, as the name suggests, a paradise.
Located at the beginning of the region called Hotel Zone, Playa Paraiso extends for a few kilometers, but the structure is very good. Unlike other beaches we went to, both in Cancún and Playa del Carmen, the audience is younger, although there are some families.

As these beaches in Tulum are not very well signposted, the reference point is the beach club of the same name, Playa Paraiso. I say this because the strip of sand extends across other smaller beaches, such as Santa Fe Beachbut which practically form a single edge.

RESTAURANTS AND BEACH CLUBS
As I said, the Playa Paraiso Beach Club is the reference that you have actually arrived at the beach. Regardless of the restaurant or beach bar, the sun loungers are charged separatelyon average between 300 and 500 pesos (about 12 to 20 dollars per couple) and there may still be a minimum consumption.

Like this beach club It’s very popular, we think the strip of sand ends up getting very crowded, including people who stretch their sarongs in front of the sun loungers to avoid paying for the use of the structure.
We then decided to go further ahead to look for another place to stay. Some beach clubs what we liked were the Esperanza Beach and the most affectionate and cool AUGUSTUS e Begin.

Then we discovered the Las Palmas Beach Barwhich has a simpler but nicer structure, and lower prices. We ended up going back there on other days too. But both are on the same strip of sand, practically side by side.

One thing to take into consideration when choosing the restaurant where you will spend the day is knowing that Yes, you can negotiate prices rental of both cabanas and sun loungers.

If the movement is weaker, establishments will calmly lower prices, so you have to talk. I say this not only because of the rent, but also because the minimum required consumption can often be quite high. Always negotiate!
Regardless of where you choose to stay, even if it’s with your sarong stretched out on the sand, the view of this Caribbean sea will make up for it.

THE SARGAZO
In practically every post about beaches in this region of the Riviera Maya or Cancún I I always like to remember sargassum. If you’ve never heard of them, these are algae that often infest beaches Caribbean.
We were lucky, we found very little sargassum during our trip, which was in January. But some friends of ours who went there shortly before ended up finding some really ugly beaches with a bad smell of seaweed.
![There was no sargassum at Playa Paraiso in Tulum (Photo: This World is Ours)](https://storelatina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/1704552357_872_The-best-beach-in-Tulum-Mexico.jpg)
As is natural, It’s hard to predict. But in our post When to go to Playa del Carmenwhat also applies to Tulum, we talked about some seasons that are more likely to suffer from the effects of sargassum. It’s worth taking a look!
WHERE TO STAY AT PLAYA PARAISO
I confess that if I had known that this was such a beautiful beach, I would have planned to stay here for at least a few days. I ended up choosing Carmen beacha city that I really like and it was worth it, but I would have shared the accommodation.

In any case, there are great hotels and guesthouses in Playa Paraiso. As at night the structure is much weaker, It’s worth choosing a hotel that has a restaurant. if you don’t want to travel by taxi, for example.
Some of the best rated are: The Paradise (same as beach club), Hotel Poc Na Tulum, Ikal Tulum Hotel e Mezzanine a Colibri Boutique Hotel. But you can still see more options on this beach and also in other regions of the city.
HOW TO GO TO PLAYA PARAISO IN TULUM
From the Ruins of Tulum, are about 2km to Playa Paraiso. I went walking, under a blazing sun lol. But it was relatively peaceful. If you prefer, you You can take a taxi from the ruins parking lot. Unfortunately there is no public transport.
Who comes from Carmen beach You can take the vans that leave from Calle 2, between Avenidas 20 and 25, to the ruins and from there follow the recommendation above.
Now if you are in Cancunyou will have to go to the center and, close to the bus station, take the vans até Playa del Carmen and then the vans that I mentioned in the previous item or else take a bus and ADO to Tulum. Then just go to the beach by taxi or take a walk.
