Directly from Manaus, chef Felipe Schaedler landed in São Paulo with the Banzeiro branch, certainly one of the main references in Amazonian cuisine today. After all, it has already won several awards, such as, for example, “Best in the City” in Veja Manaus Comer & Beber Magazine and “Best Restaurant in the North” in Prazeres da Mesa Magazine. It’s been four years bringing ingredients and recipes from the North of the country, which earned the chef the inclusion of Banzeiro on the list of Bib Gourmand from the Michelin Guide in 2020. Amazonian food restaurant in SP
Located in Itaim Bibi, the house has elegant and cozy decor, inspired by the culture of the North region and indigenous peoples. On the wall, made of mud, there is a canoe hanging (banzeiro is the movement that the river makes, moving the boats) and a life-size photograph of a couple of Indians from the Dessana ethnic group. In fact, highlight is also the panel signed by the Manaus artist Talles Mattos, portraying different tourist attractions in the capital of Amazonas.

The menu
On the menu, the chef mixes creations from Moquém do Banzeiro, his most recent restaurant, as well as dishes created especially for the São Paulo unit. Like the Barriga de Pirarucu Moqueada, smoked at low temperature with apple wood, over a sauce made with tapioca, hibiscus and ginger. Served with cassava puree roasted in a wood-fired oven. In addition, there are also classics, such as the sweet and sour tambaqui ribs, which were simply wonderful!

Meanwhile, the drinks menu created by award-winning mixologist Alex Mesquita also celebrates Amazonian ingredients. Banzeiro’s Bloody gains a touch of the forest when seasoned with Yanomami mushroom broth and saúva ant powder, in addition to containing Don Julio tequila, artisanal tomato juice, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco, Maldon salt and celery .
Therefore, if you are from São Paulo or are passing through the city, it is worth visiting this Amazonian cuisine restaurant in SP! I left there very impressed! YMG approved!
