A hotel icon in the English capital, The Dorchester is without a doubt the best hotel in Mayfair. Opened in 1931, it gives its name to one of the main collections of luxury hotels in the world, which also includes Plaza Athenée and Le Meurice, in Paris and Bel-Air and The Beverly Hills in Los Angeles, among others. Opposite Hyde Park, with exquisite service, a renowned spa and top-of-the-line restaurants, it offers magical accommodation in London. Certainly an icon!
The Dorchester: best hotel in Mayfair, London
The Dorchester is certainly everything we imagined and a little more. A palace with all the pomp, but where the staff make the guest feel at ease. A hotel full of glamor and soul, where the lobby is always very busy, as the restaurants are on the same floor. At the door, very polite doormen uniformed, properlywith their elegant top hats.

The sumptuous lobby

Certainly worthy of a hospitality icon!
The best hotel in Mayfair is also one of the most traditional in London. He has even hosted Queen Elizabeth for dinner and had filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock as a guest, for example. Finally, of recent celebrities, Kate Moss, the Kardashians, Mariah Carey, Tom Cruise, Victoria Beckham and Ben Stiller have been there.

Atmosphere worthy of a classic!
A sublime flower arrangement immediately attracts attention after the reception. I found it curious that an employee was always eager to leave the cushions neatly arranged on the sofa in the lobby. Certainly a sign of the level of care for the environments.

The beautiful flowers, which certainly attract attention right away!
Location
The best hotel in Mayfair is opposite Hyde Park, on a busy two-way street. Furthermore, it is also opposite 45 Park Lane, another excellent hotel from the Dorchester Collection brand, as you can read in my review.
Shoreditch, London’s coolest neighborhood

Hyde Park

In fact, walking through Hyde Park is a great activity.
In fact, from my window at The Dorchester, I could see the Elan Café, a favorite among instagrammers, and with a line at the door every day.
The new 787-8 British Airways Dreamliner

Who knows?
In a five-minute walk, we arrived at Mount St, a welcoming, almost cinematic street, full of bars, restaurants and beautiful shops. Less than 1km away is the busy Oxford Street, right next to the wonderful Selfridges department store. While the famous Picadilly Circus is accessible within a 15-minute walk.

Very charming streets

With cute little houses!
The rooms
There are 205 spacious and comfortable rooms in the best hotel in Mayfair. Some have been redecorated and have a more contemporary and elegant atmosphere. I had the chance to see two: a deluxe, which was excellent in size, 40m² and with a magnificent bathroom. The Belgravia suite, measuring 74m², had two rooms, more modern decor, with contrasting light and bright colors and beautiful wooden floors.

Quarto Deluxe

Belgravia Suite
To bed king size It was wonderful, with its feather pillows and extremely soft sheets. Two televisions, two work tables – a third one for dining – sofa, armchairs and chairs. Furthermore, the acoustics were perfect: there was no noise either in the corridors or from outside.

I didn’t want to get out of bed!

More suite details
The large windows brought lots of light into the room and the small balcony was a charm in itself. In other words: a sophisticated London apartment that I miss just thinking about.

I loved my balcony!
Interestingly, the deluxe bathroom was better but this became just a detail considering all the space and sophistication of the suite. It was all made of Italian marble, with two sinks and several cabinets and shelves – essential for a vain woman. The only drawback was the shower – excellent by the way – inside the bathtub, always a little uncomfortable.

The bathroom!
The restaurants
Gastronomy is a great asset at The Dorchester, the best hotel in Mayfair. There are four different options that will please even the most demanding diners. The Grill, where breakfast is served, recently underwent a third renovation. It has a sophisticated and modern atmosphere and offers contemporary English cuisine, with soufflés, fish and chips and meats on the menu. Highlight for the refined bar. I also loved the soothing live music played on the weekends.

The hall is beautiful!

Details of the rich breakfast! After all, there’s nothing better than starting the day like this!

The Grill at night
The Promenade, which is located just after the lobby, is ideal for breakfast or afternoon tea (although it is open until midnight).

Classic atmosphere

Bar and piano
Furthermore, lovers of Asian cuisine will certainly love China Tang, which specializes in Cantonese cuisine with an air that takes us back to Shanghai. And for an unforgettable night, the sublime Alain Ducasse, who needs no introduction, with three Michelin stars, in an extremely elegant environment.
The spa
Mayfair’s finest hotel also offers an urban oasis. The La Prairie brand spa offers aesthetic and relaxing treatments. Additionally, manicure and barber services are available.
Service
The Dorchester has a 5-star service. One example was the care they took in offering a transition room at the time of check in – it was too early – because my suite wasn’t ready. I found it extremely delicate. The concierge team was always helpful and had information on the tip of their tongue. In fact, there are even employees dedicated solely to purchasing/reserving theater tickets. A luxury, certainly worthy of the queen’s land.
