Carmel Cumbuco – The Best Hotel near Fortaleza
The hotel belongs to the Carmel Hotéis chain, which has three other units in Ceará, with emphasis on the Carmel Charme Resort, located in Aquiraz, which is even more luxurious and exclusive.
Cumbuco beach is known worldwide for its favorable winds for kite and windsurfing, but don’t worry, even if you don’t leave the hotel for anything, you’ll enjoy the trip to the fullest. The hotel’s proposal is precisely this and the majority of guests stay the whole time enjoying the leisure area, the restaurants, and at most, they take a stroll on the beach right in front.
O Resort
The resort offers a spa, jacuzzis facing the sea, dry and steam sauna, thermal and children’s pools and a gym. In addition to a beach volleyball court, beach lounge, restaurant and toy library. It is worth highlighting the sun loungers located inside the pool, where you can lie down, relax and float. A delight!
There are 88 rooms with balconies, all with views of the sea and the pool (the tip is to ask for the highest floors). The accommodations are equipped with a 42 Full HD LED TV with subscription channels, retro minibar, espresso machine, air conditioning, direct dial telephone, hairdryer, electronic safe and Wi-Fi. I was welcomed into my room with some pampering , such as chocolate and coconut water. I loved!
The Premium Pool Suite, where I stayed, has rustic beach decor, as well as direct access to the pool and a hammock in front to relax. It accommodates a couple or even a family. In fact, this hotel is more suitable for families, while Carmel Charme is more aimed at couples.
Gastronomy
The hotel’s cuisine is also worth highlighting. When traveling to the Northeast, seafood is always the best option. The restaurant’s menu, overlooking the beach and pool, is very eclectic and pleases all palates. Breakfast (buffet), lunch and dinner (both à la carte) are served in the same place.
Fish, shrimp or lobster? It has everything! The dish I liked most was the Camarão na Moranga, which serves two people and is literally delicious. I tried several dishes during my stay, and they were all great.
In conventional rates, which cost from R$700.00, you have breakfast included. If you wish, there is the option of booking half-board (most suitable) or full board.
Lazer
In everyday life, your only question will be: beach, pool or jacuzzi? When in doubt, enjoy everything! The jacuzzis are occupied early in the morning, so you have to wake up early to get a seat in one of them, which are strategically located in front of the beach. With warm water, they are great for relaxing. In other words, there is no doubt that the Carmel is the best hotel near Fortaleza.
The pool is also delightful, and much more refreshing than the jacuzzi. So you don’t have to leave it, there is a wet bar, where you can order your favorite drink. On Saturdays, in the late afternoon, a DJ entertains guests with lots of good music.
For children, in addition to the pool and beach, there is a small kids club, with several toys. Even though there are no entertainers, it’s a cool space for them to play and escape the city’s strong heat.
I traveled there during a long holiday and even though the hotel was practically full I didn’t mind. There was always space in the pool and the restaurant was reasonably busy, with quick service. This is a very positive point, as some hotels are unable to serve guests well on busy days.
Conclusion
I loved the hotel! I ended up not leaving it at all, going all the way to the beach, and it was perfect for relaxing, replenishing my energy, getting a tan and not worrying about anything. If you have more days, it’s worth doing like me, and splitting your stay between Carmel Cumbuco and Carmel Charme. Start the trip at the Cumbuco unit and then upgrade to the Aquiraz unit. The trip will be more interesting and you will enjoy perfect days of sun and heat, in two excellent hotels in the Northeast. Or better said, you will discover the best hotel near Fortaleza.
