During my recent stay in Los Angeles, I stayed at the Fairmont Miramar, in Santa Monica, a hotel that I highly recommend. With an excellent location, right on the corner of the sophisticated Wilshire Blvd and Ocean Av. and in front of the beach, considered one of the most beautiful in the world !

The Fairmont Miramar is walking distance of some of the best shopping centers in the city: the famous Third Street Promenade – a street closed to cars, full of stores – and Santa Monica Place – a super pleasant open shopping mall with the main department stores, such as Bloomingdales and Nordstrom.

Sugarfish: great Japanese restaurant nearby
Furthermore, the Fairmont is surrounded by several good restaurants, such as Hillstone, a steak restaurant – almost opposite – and the excellent Japanese restaurant, Sugarfish, frequented by locals.

Former mansion of millionaire Senator John P. Jones, the founder of Santa Monica, Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows has been the temporary residence of several celebrities and politicians in the last hundred years, such as Greta Garbo, Cary Grant, Eleanor Roosevelt and Senator John F. Kennedy.

The hotel’s trademark is a century-old fig tree that stands right at the entrance, giving a unique charm to those arriving, both by car and on foot.

What most caught my attention in my room was the incredible view of the Pacific Ocean and Santa Monica beach, which makes anyone wake up in a good mood, even more so if the sky is blue, as it happened to me.

In addition to the 300 rooms and suites, the hotel offers 32 exclusive bungalows in the garden area, very close to the pleasant swimming pool.

One floor above, there is the gym, very well equipped, in addition to the wonderful Exhale spa (original from New York) – I was able to check it out with a massage they offered – and a gym, where it is possible to take various classes, such as yoga, (paying at the part).

The hotel’s restaurant, FIG, where breakfast is served, stands out for its good food (always made with fresh ingredients from the Farmer’s Market) modern decor and pleasant bistro atmosphere. With an exclusive entrance for non-guests, it is very popular at night and a great option for those who want to have dinner in a lively place without leaving the hotel.

The Fairmont Miramar’s spacious lobby brings a mix of executives who hold informal meetings there, with tourists and locals who take the opportunity to have a coffee or a drink at the bar, with the advantage of free Wi-Fi.

The hotel’s atmosphere is so pleasant and the location so privileged that weddings are also held there, taking into account that Los Angeles is a city where residents frequent hotels as they do restaurants. Therefore, the Fairmont is popular with everyone, not just tourists.
