Laser hair removal on the groin: how it is done, results and care

Beauty

Laser hair removal in the groin can eliminate practically all hair in the region in around 4 to 6 waxing sessions, however, the number of sessions may vary according to the color of the skin and hair, and generally, people with lighter skin and dark hair experience faster results.

After the initial sessions, which eliminate most of the hair, one or two maintenance sessions may be necessary after about a year, to ensure that the hair that “survived” is also permanently eliminated.

Laser hair removal in the groin can cause some pain, because the hair in this region is thicker and, therefore, the laser ends up penetrating further into the hair follicle, which is a very positive result, as it means less hair is needed. sessions to eliminate all hair once and for all.

How waxing is done

Laser hair removal on the groin is carried out by a dermatologist or a professional specializing in aesthetics, using a laser device, which emits a wavelength that only reaches the place where the hair grows, called the hair bulb, permanently eliminating it.

During the application of the laser to the groin, some pain may appear, with a burning or stinging sensation with each shot, as the hair in this region is thicker, which is considered good, as fewer sessions may be needed, to completely eliminate hair.

When the results come

The results of laser hair removal on the groin appear immediately after the first session, in which the hair becomes loose and completely falls out in about 15 days, and can be easily removed in the shower with a skin exfoliation.

The next session must be scheduled between 30 and 45 days apart and during this period, waxing or tweezing cannot be performed, as the hair cannot be removed from the root. If necessary, only use a razor or depilatory cream.

How many sessions are needed?

Normally, it takes around 4 to 6 sessions for the bikini line hair to be completely eliminated, but the interval between sessions increases and, therefore, it may not happen every month.

This is because, as there are other follicles that are still immature during the first sessions and do not yet have hair, these are not affected by the laser and continue their development.

The result of this is the emergence of new hair, which may appear a few months after laser hair removal. For this reason, it is normally recommended to carry out 4 to 6 initial sessions, and at least 1 or 2 more maintenance sessions, approximately 8 to 12 months after the first sessions.

Care after waxing

After laser hair removal, it is normal for the area to become red, and the hair areas to be red and swollen, so some recommended care includes:

  • Wear loose clothing such as a skirt or dress to avoid rubbing your skin;
  • Prefer to wear cotton underwear or panties;
  • Apply a soothing lotion to the shaved area;
  • Do not expose the shaved area to the sun for 1 month, nor use self-tanner, to avoid staining the skin.
