O You Must Go went to check out the multi-use center up close during the presentation of “Saboreando História”, with the Portuguese historian and chef Ana Roldão, whose course we already talked about here on the blog, as you can read here. She took us on a delightful tour themed “An Evening with Marie Antoinette”. It was a real lesson in gastronomy history, where we could not only learn more about the queen of France, which was so controversial and striking, but also enjoying delicious food in the same style they used to serve at the Court of Versailles.
The refinement of the palace, which was the greatest center of power in the France, was very high, and the rigor of etiquette and exaggerated protocols were difficult for the queen of Austrian origin, who arrived in France at just 14 years of age, to follow. Although she came from one of the most important courts of the time, Schӧnbrunn Palace in Vienna, nothing compared to Versailles.
During the lecture we learned about the Court’s table service, the protocols, the origin of the crockery and clothing. Marie Antoinette He had to adapt to all of this and managed to stand out by creating his own style that influenced the fashion and customs of the time. With Ana Roldão’s cultural background and her light way of presenting historical facts, we have the impression of truly experiencing a night at court, especially with the delicate French touches she gave to the event. A small tasting was prepared to give an idea of how each dish was presented. A starter of vol au vent de brie and walnuts with dates for starters and mini chicken sandwiches with tarragon served as if we were spending a pleasant afternoon in the palace gardens. So that participants had the feeling of being at one of the informal meetings that the queen promoted for her closest friends, an Apéritif à la Marie Antoinette: Chandon Brutt sparkling wine with sprite and fruits such as kiwi, star fruit and macerated strawberry. To close the event, there is nothing more characteristic than the sweet treat that is the face of France. Chef Ana served Sicilian lemon macaron giving a different touch with a tasty strawberry and basil coulis.
What caught our attention was that while we were participating in this gastronomic course, In another room of the house, another workshop was taking place with makeup classes. Events can occur in parallel without one disturbing the other, as the house has several rooms on two floors. In addition to having a charming balcony on the first floor, the lounge could be the ideal place for a small party or cocktail.
Rating 10 for the idea of creating a center multi cultural in the south zone, where several artistic expressions can be presented at the same time! And where friends can gather for celebrations in a charming and relaxed space in the friendly Jardim Botânico neighborhood. To access the official website, click here.
