It is an area full of true paintings of nature. Undoubtedly, one of the most beautiful places in Portugal. It runs from the Minho region to Trás os Montes and is crossed by two large rivers: the Lima and the Cávado.
O Peneda-Gerês Park It is located on the border of Spain and reaches Galicia.
Its scenic beauty is impressive and its ecological value is great, due to the variety of fauna and flora.
Returning to the hotel, it was named after the waterfall that passes through there, giving the place an extra charm. But don’t think that the prices are astronomical, taking into account the comfort, good taste, service and location, the rates are very reasonable.
With twenty-two suites and eleven bungalows, silence reigns at Aqua Falls. The architectural design favors wood and stone and perfectly interacts with the view of the Cávado River – breathtaking.
The spa is the hotel’s highlight, offering various body treatments, such as shiatsu, aromatherapy and Turkish bath, among others, and using renowned Sisley Cosmetics products, as well as natural plant extracts and essential oils.
There is an indoor pool, with natural light and an outdoor pool, ideal for this time of year as it starts to heat up. In addition to a sauna, tennis court and children’s playground.
The area where the hotel is located is so valued that footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has a house right in front of it, complete with a heliport and private football field, of course!
The hotel also has the Splendid restaurant, which, in addition to a stunning view, offers international cuisine with Portuguese and, above all, regional references, as well as vegetarian menus and organic dishes.
During lunch, I opted for the traditional cod cake (here called pastel), accompanied by black-eyed pea salad. They were both divine! And as a main dish, salmon with almonds and saffron rice, delicious! For dessert, we ate a semi-cold biscuit – being faithful to the Portuguese vocabulary – which for us would be a pavé with Maria biscuit. Approved!
Those who stay at Aqua Falls will certainly have a very relaxing day, but if they get tired, they can choose between some activities, such as tree climbing, trails, themed routes and water and/or extreme sports. The hotel also offers visits to typical villages in the region and boat, jeep, motorbike, bicycle and horseback trips. Always with a guide. In short, there are options for all tastes!
