Imagine being able to store French bread for up to three months! These are simple and easy tips for preserving the bread that is never missing on the Brazilian table.
French bread, which has nothing to do with French (in France we don’t eat this bread), also known as cacetinho or bread de sal, is Brazilian’s passion. This bread is rarely found on the Brazilian breakfast table.
One of the consumption requirements is that it is fresh, made on the day. But not everyone has time to buy freshly made bread. And eating it afterwards is not very good, as it loses all its crunchiness and softness.
Therefore, you will now learn how to make bread look fresh, soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside and warm, as if it had just come out of the bakery oven.

Fresh French bread without freezing
No freezing
If you want to preserve bread without freezing, it is possible. However, it will last up to a maximum of three days.
Do the following, let the rolls cool completely, place them in plastic zip bags or in a plastic container with a lid, so that they are tightly closed. This way you can keep it for up to three days, keeping it soft inside.
When ready to eat, wet the palm of your hand and spread it over the top of the French bread and leave it in the oven for 5 minutes. It will look like new, as fresh as if it came out of the bakery.
With freezing
Take the bread one by one, wrap it in aluminum foil, then place them all in a single plastic bag, close it tightly and store it in the freezer. This way the French bread will keep for up to 3 months.
When ready to eat, remove the bread from the plastic bag and let it thaw for a few hours in the refrigerator. This way it will bake faster at medium temperature, around 8 to 10 minutes.
Take the rolls out of the oven, remove the aluminum foil and place them back in the oven for another 2 minutes, so the skin becomes crispy. If you moisten the palm of your hand and spread it on the rolls, you will get an even crispier bread.
