While I struggle to make my oil-free popcorn in the microwave (recipe here), my “vidaloka” husband asks me popcorn with bacon! Then every now and then I end up giving in. But I have to confess, it’s really good! But it’s for those who enjoy living dangerously, so consume in VERY moderation!
If you don’t have a popcorn maker and you’re not used to making popcorn in the pan, I’ll warn you that it’s not as simple as it seems and that there’s a high chance that the popcorn will burn and ruin your pan. You need to pay close attention to the temperature of the fire. The ideal is a thick-bottomed pan.
Basically it goes like this:
- Fry the bacon (the amount of cholesterol in the form of love is up to you).
- Add the corn (I add an amount that covers the bottom of the pan with a thin layer).
- Cover the pan, lower the heat and wait for it to start popping.
- Stir the pan without removing the lid so the corn pops better (I do this throughout the process).
