1 – Write in bold, italics and words crossed out

A written message can lose much of its meaning or meaning because it is not accompanied by the tone that the sender would like to convey.

For this reason, this first trick is one of the most interesting, as it can give a little of this tone to the writing.

To draw attention within the conversation, for example, in addition to using capital letters, you can write in bold.

Simply place the letter, word or phrase between two asterisks

2 – Silent and personalized ringtones

You can’t always access the app and/or sometimes you join a group that you can’t leave, but you feel uncomfortable with constant message notifications.

You can put a contact or group on silent and you can even choose how long to leave it silent.

To do so, in the conversation, click on the name of the contact (or group) and the “Mute” option will appear.

By clicking on it, you can choose between 8 hours, 1 week and 1 year so that messages continue to arrive, but without the notification ringing.

If you want a different ringtone for each conversation, enter the conversation again, click on the contact or group name, go to “Customize Ringtone” and choose a ringtone from the numerous available options.

3 – Disable viewing alerts

If you don’t want your contacts to know when the last time you were online was, go to the bottom left corner of the app:

Settings > Account > Privacy > Last Seen and choose “Nobody”.

On the same screen you can disable “Read Receipts” if you don’t want them to know that you read the message you received.

It is worth mentioning that once these privacy settings are chosen, they will apply to everyone, that is, just like your contacts, you will also not see their “last seen” and/or read sign.

If you choose to leave ‘Read Receipt’ activated, you will be able to view the exact date and time that a contact received and read a message from you.

To do this, on the message, slide your finger to the left.

4 – Save data plan

You can save your 3G/4G data package by going to Settings > Data Usage and Storage and choose under “Automatic media download” the types of media you want to be downloaded only when connected to a Wi-Fi network.

5 – Share location and contact

One of the most useful WhatsApp tricks is location sharing.

Just click on the + symbol in the bottom right corner of the conversation and choose “Share Location”.

With the help of GPS, a map will appear.

Click on the star – the first option on the left of this menu – and that’s it, the message will be saved in “Marked Messages” with the origin information (contact or group), date and time.

To view it, click on Settings and you will find the “Marked Messages” folder.

7 – Send the same message to more than one contact

To optimize sending exactly the same messages to more than one contact, in the top left corner of the main screen, click on “Broadcast Lists” > New List and select the contacts to whom you want to send the message.

Write the same and send it.

All the lists that are created will be saved in this same place and you will be able to manage and monitor them.

8 – Preview with the cell phone screen locked

Aiming to avoid possible embarrassment and invasions of privacy, WhatsApp created a feature so that the user can decide whether or not they want to preview their messages received when their cell phone has the screen locked.

Go to Settings > Notifications and choose whether to have the “Show Preview” feature on or off.

If activated, even with the screen locked, the received message can be viewed and even responded to (on top of the message notification, slide your finger to the left and click “see”).

If deactivated, when the screen is locked, it will only be possible to view the sender of the message.

9 – Archive WhatsApp conversation

You don’t want to delete a conversation, but would you like it not to remain on your main screen?

On top of the conversation (closed), swipe left.

The “More” and “Archive” options will appear.

Click “Archive” and the conversation will be archived.

To view it again, still on the main screen, swipe from the top to the bottom and a folder called “Archived Conversations” will appear at the top of the screen.

Click on it to make it open.
