Adaline’s Bread Recipe:
INGREDIANTS:
-1 Cup Warm Water
-3 TBL Instant Yeast
-2 TBL Sugar
-2 Cups Boiling Water
-2/3 Cup Avocado Oil
-1/3 Cup Sugar
-4 tsp Salt
-2 1/2 Cups Cold Water
-6 Cups Flour
-6 1/2 to 7 Cups Flour
INSTRUCTIONS:
Combine 1 Cup warm water, 3TBL Yeast & 2 TBL Sugar, stir until dissolved and set aside to get bubbly while you do the step. In a separate bowl mix 2 Cups boiling water with 2/3 Cup Avocado oil, 1/3 Cup Sugar & 4 tsp salt till dissolved. Next add the 2 1/2 Cups cold water in with the oil mixture to cool it down. Pour oil mixture in with yeast mixture and add 6 cups of flour. once combined well cover and allow to rise for 30mins. After 30mins punch down dough and add the remaining flour. (I start by adding 6 1/2 cups and if its a bit too sticky I’ll add another 1/4 to 1/2 cup) Once remaining flour is combined, cover and allow to rise to double. Punch down and shape into 4 loaves. Use a drizzle of oil on countertop and finger tips to help dough if it’s sticking. Place into greased loaf pans. Allow to rise in loaf pans to a little less than double. Bake at 350F for 40mins. Dump out of loaf pans as soon as pulled out of the oven and butter tops of loaves while still hot. DO NOT SLICE BREAD TILL COMPLETELY COOLED! (Bread is still baking inside to loaf as it cools on the counter) Enjoy!!

Do you have a blackberry jelly recipe❤
Oh know most that I know remove the rings❤
We reuse a lot of jars or containers from the shops too. This American tradition really surprised me when I started seeing it
We've always reused canning jars and lids, but not for canning. Many years ago my mother used to do canning. That's what she and her family did while she was growing up in Mississippi, so she knows a lot about it, but I never learned.
Can you share the link to the avocado oil you found on amazon?
When they have bread recipes what do you do to eat?
Hey Adaline, I'm pretty new and just love your channel ,also I'm from Alabama ❤️❤️❤️❤️
First of all dear one,I want to say ,you are just glowing from being so happy in your life! You're always sweet, and full of great ideas! I'm very happy for you and your sweet family. Hugs from Missouri 😊❤
I live in Western PA and would love to come to a meet up in the winter. I think that would be so fun!
I’ve been watching your channel for a good while now and I don’t comment often but would love to interact more with your online community here! I didn’t grow up in a community or family that prioritized slow living but I’ve come to find it much more my style and pace. I want to get back to traditions that my grandparents had that have lost it’s way these last few generations. Your videos always inspire me to step out of my comfort zone and try new things. Can’t wait for the next video! ❤
hi! i need a new bread recipe lol so i want to try out yours but could i cut everything in half to make two loaves? It is just two of us at home so 4 would be waaay too much for us. do you think it will still work the same?
thanks!!!
The bread you made looks delicious, I love making my own sourdough bread 🍞
The green beans would make great canned green bean soup, and green bean soup is one of my favorite soups😋
I will be posting a green bean soup recipe this week on my channel. I'm Mennonite as well and I always reuse lids if the seal is still good and I alsodon'tboil my lids🫣
I honestly feel
common sense hardly exists anymore especially with the new younger generation 😅
I have that first cookbook you showed! I got it as a gift from a student I worked with 25 years ago. I’ve made several recipes from that book.
Loved you video! Canning question- are you able to safely can a recipe you made on a different day?
Lancaster is perfect! I'm 40 min away toward Philly
Lancaster sounds nice. My family and I are going to sights and sounds in August. But I'm not in PA. So I don't know what to well. We live in Southern New Jersey. Lancaster is about 2 hours away from where I live also. PA is so beautiful in the spring, summer, and fall months. But the winter, Ugh😩. It's like an ice skating rink. Don't get me wrong it's beautiful scenery. But the roads are scary in the winter.
How do you freeze the bread? Do you cut it first? Thanks! ❤
Do you make gluten free bread? My daughter has Celiac Disease and I'm always looking for a good gluten free bread or bun recipe.❤
You are such a sweetheart, I love your recipe for bread and want to make the grape jelly ..
Garage sales are a great place to find baskets
Thank you for sharing your thrift tip of finding serving dishes with a lid. The amount of dishes at dinner time is daunting, this was the exact thing I needed to hear for the light bulb moment, like Duh that makes so much sense.
Not sure what part of PA you're in but I'm near Gettysburg and I'd love to meet up and is LOVE to know what thrift store you go to because the ones near me STINK LOL
Saved the books in my Amazon cart! ❤
Love your Video's Are you going to do a video on Canning Corn?
Common sense doesn’t seem to be so common anymore. 😏
My mum always reused her Vacola lids again as long as it was in good condition. There is a lot of wastage in today’s society – so it’s great to see you using yours. ☺️
Thank you. I have been saying this and think it is so stupid not to reuse lids. I have done everything you said to look for with my commonsense! It makes me feel better to know I'm not the only one! No Mennonite or Amish background here.
Also on a nother YT channel a ladies was saying she has worked in a lid factory for 20+ years and if it has a orange gasket it's made to be reused if it's a white it's a one time use. The YT erased her comment. 😢
Personal opinion throwing away your lid is a money grab and keeping you in a dependent mindset. How is throw your lid away being more self sustainable?
Sorry if it sounds rantie. I just think it's ridiculous…
The juices of canned fruit are so, so good to add to sweeten and flavor hot or cold teas as well.
Love this info!!!!
I, too, am from Central PA. I'm an hour west of Harrisburg. Your videos are so rewarding. My children are all married now. I have 10 grandchildren. Your comments about canning are spot on with the way I was taught. I did not come from a Mennonite or Amish background. It was just a way of life growing up. It is so rewarding to eat what you have harvested. Many blessings to you and your family.
I've never had a problem reusing my lids either! Some of the canning "rules" are ridiculous and excessive. Love that you're putting this out there!
I'm in Central PA, about an hour from Lancaster. Coffee would be awesome!
What size glass jar are your oats in?!
My mom and I say that we have a superpower…. It’s called common sense.
I spend my exchange student year in Ephrata PA 2011/2012 your channel is awesome. I love your recipes and the meal prep. Do you have experiences with whoopie pies (two cookies between a white filling). One can also freeze them and meal prep them. They can be meal prep friendly. Maybe you can post them in one of your recipes. 🙂
I just found your channel. My husband is from PA, but we live in FL. Very happy to have found you on YouTubed ☺️.
My 10-year-old daughter and I just tried your bread recipe. Wow! Four beautiful loaves. Couldn't resist and tasted one while warm. 😅 Kids are in love! I've recently started watching your channel and I'm a big fan already. Thank you for sharing such amazing tips! ❤
Yes!! Common sense. Love your style.
I’m not sure if I missed it or if it wasn’t mentioned, but when canning you should ALWAYS remove the rings from your jars after 24 hours. If you don’t you can get what is called a false seal. This is where the pressure of the rings holds down the lid even though the seal has been broken. When you remove the rings if the seal became bad you’d know immediately as the seal would be broken when you next looked at the jar. It’s a way that you’ll always know if your food has been sealed properly. For the same reason you should NEVER put jars on top of jars as this can create a false seal. You can put carb board between your jars and that is ok because the jar won’t be sitting directly on the lid. Hope this helps everyone. If I didn’t explain this well please look into it yourself about why you should always remove your rings before storing your jars. Have fun canning!
I would do a meet up near you but couldn’t make it to Lancaster
I'm new to your channel, so I've been watching older videos. I really like this video. Loved the book info. I'm going to look for the last one you talked about. We have forgotten how much our own back yard can give us. And you didn't ramble at all. I really like videos like this
You just have so much knowledge and great ideas. I just love watching ur videos and getting ur input. Thk u so much for sharing ur world ❤ Oh, as for reusing lids, I was raised watching my mom and grandmother reusing their lids lol. I never knew people didn’t reuse their lids until a few years ago! I guess it’s just all about how u r raised or if u were even raised around it at all.
Agree with your canning techniques. My family has been canning for over 100 years, I learned how to can from my grandmother who grew up canning from the women in her life.
Love your channel!!
Quick question, do you meal prep ALL in one day? If so, would you make a video for those who want to start doing it and the steps to follow to make it easier? PLEASE!
I have a question do you have to use 7 cups of sugar as grapes are sweet to start with? Just found your channel and I’m loving it so far. Thank you for putting it out there for people to learn from.
hi, can you show your freezer? We have 5 freezers. I would love to use one just for freezer meals and other items like bread and oatmeal. thanks! I would like to see how you use your freezer for these items.
Do you have a gluten free option for this bread? Thanks
Great video Adaline!
