1 bell pepper, diced
1.5 tbsp tomato paste
1-1/2 cups jasmine rice
1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
2 cups chicken broth

Stir gently and serve immediately.

MAKE IT A FREEZER MEAL

Transfer sausage and onion cooked mixture to a medium bowl to cool. Add Add diced bell pepper, 1-1/2 tbsp tomato paste, 1-1/2 cups uncooked jasmine rice, 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning and 2 cups chicken broth to a labeled container. Add cooled sausage mixture. Seal container and freeze.

2 teaspoons lime juice
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
4 to 5 cups stir fry vegetables

  1. I doubled the sausage and rice recipe and made two freezer bags and both of them (tired on different days) turned out horribly… the rice was like mush and almost a grit like texture and they both burned on the bottom of the pot. I was so excited to try this and love the idea of a dump and go freezer meal but was so disappointed in how it turned out 🙁 i followed the recipe exactly, did I do something wrong??

  2. As someone who is working hard to minimize the amount of plastic I am adding to landfills, the number of plastic bags I am envisioning results from this kind of food prep horrifies me!

  3. I wish you ladies would clarify some of these concerns. I noticed in the written directions it said to use cooked onion and sausage before freezing, but you don’t mention that in the video—so which is it?

  4. I love the video I only wish you guys would respond to a lot of the questions here in the comments that I also have

  5. I can't do onions unless is onion powder so how much should I use. Like a cup of onion = how much onion powder? Thank you so kindly. Hope you ladies have the best day imaginable. 😘💕

  6. I have tried several freezer meals, thawed them out completely and each time get Burn notice. I added lots of extra liquid each time. Why does this keep happening??

  7. Sausage and Rice recipe very disappointing. The first time I've ever had the burn signal come on! Followed the ingredients precisely, but seems you have the ratio of rice? chicken stock incorrect. Even when I released valve and added more stock, burn light still came on. Needless to say, the rice was like mush but somewhat edible, but the more I tried to eat the sausage , I realized it wasn't even cooked and presented a danger of trichinosis! So had to dig thru mushy rice, retrieve sausage to cook in seperate skillet, then add back to what turned out to be a terrible dish. you need to check your ingredient proportions again to pressure cook on high for 10 minutes. Had zip locked and frozen dish, was really looking forward to a great meal, but was extremely disappointed.

  8. OMG. Just made the Instant Pot Sausage Chicken and Rice tonight and it's delicious! Will definitely be a household favorite going forward.

  9. OMG! I enjoy watching Karen too, it is funny seeing her in your kitchen!
Love You ALL , Thank You All for Sharing your Recipes, and Tips💜

  10. Wonderful recipes. I have made so many Instant Pot recipes from ur YouTube. I cant figure out what I do wrong but when I do rice I get "burn" notice. I followed ur recipe for the Rice and Sausage burn notice twice. Any ideas?
Thank u for ur wonderful recipes.

  11. Since I had shoulder surgery, I prepped several freezer meals for "later times". I made 2 "batches" of the sausage and rice, 1 was eaten that day (they liked it) the other went in the freezer. Tonight I put it in the IP, followed directions, but thought that didn't look like enough fluid so I added extra. BURN notice. Scraped up the bottom, added additional water…BURN again. Now making them fish & chips. Shame to have to toss all that food now!

  12. I love both of your channels! I've become addicted while waiting on my 8 qt instant pot duo plus! Got an awesome deal on amazon last week! $89.99!!!!! Wooo hoooo!!! Anyways, I have a question… if I'd like to make any of the freezer meals not as freezer meals does anything change like the cook time or anything else? Thanks!
P.s. my instant pot & accessories are out for delivery right now! Im so excited!! 😁😁😁

  13. Great! Glad to see an Instant Pot project with Karen, 365! I am a fan of Karen’s Ranch Chicken Spaghetti recipe for the Instant Pot! Good job, Ladies!

  14. I made the Sausage Chicken and Rice and had these thoughts. For us, there was too much rice to meat ratio. I would either double the meat or add in a pound of shrimp. I would also chop the red pepper into bigger chunks. They really shrink in the IP and you could hardly notice them. I will also add a can of diced tomatoes with peppers for some more texture and taste. I know that's a lot of changes; but just thought I would offer it as a suggestion.
Thank you to the Six Sisters for posting these. I have many saved already!

  15. Question if anyone knows please…..How much more water should I add if I wanted to use brown rice instead of white in the chicken sausage and rice recipe?

  16. Please put in your comments what receipes are made in your video. It's hard to find the one I want otherwise. Love them all.

  17. I just made the sweet chili chicken. And is it weird that after it was cooked I stirred in a tablespoon of peanut butter? I swear it tastes like Thai Peanut Chicken at the Chinese buffet. So good! Thanks!

  18. I bought some stands months ago but still haven’t made any freezer meals, I always intend to make several for my daughter, full time mom and in nursing school so she’s very busy but I haven’t gotten around to it yet

  19. I live when you bring people from other channels on, that’s how I found my favorite air fryer lady, plus it shows how much fun it is, gonna make a bunch of these with my daughter in a few weeks

  20. Are you supposed to defrost these meals first? I dumped it in frozen and added a cup of water. It shut off and said food burn. I don't know what I am doing wrong.

  21. Can you cook the first meal from frozen(chicken sausage and rice) in instapot or do you have to let thaw? If you can on what setting and for how long?

  22. Loved the video thank you. Can someone tell me if the sausage that was cut up was a cooked/cured sort? I don't recognise the make from here in the Uk. Looking for an alternative. Thank you.

  23. Kristen, I have to tell you you and your sisters videos have literally changed our lives. My husband and I have health issues and we are older. Between the instant pot and air fryer recipes we can manage and enjoy the meals.
We did make the chicken jambalaya and it was very good and my blood sugar was fabulos. But the chicken was tough. We cooked on high pressure for ten minutes as directed. What do we need to adjust? We are at almost coastal altitude.
Thank you all again so genuinely. We also likevthe guest sites you share. You really have changed our ives.
Thank you and God bless you all.

  24. works great. i love that it has stainless steal pot inside https://www.youtube.com/post/UgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg and not the one with coating. we used to have a coated pot before, and the coating slowly peels, and i am sure went into the food that we cooked. Absolutely love stainless steel, and will not use a coated product again. This pot has many settings and many buttons, and i need to sit down with a manual to figure out which setting to use. I used the basic functions, and even though i am not technologically skilled, i turned it on and assembled it without any help.Very satisfied with this product overall.
