Singapore Zoo
Singapore Zoo The Singapore Zoo is a not-for-profit zoological park that hosts 4,500 animals on a sprawling nature-themed wildlife park.
It is one of the most popular attractions in Singapore, and welcomes more than 2 million visitors each year.
The zoo was founded in 1973 as a Wildlife Park, and opened its doors to the public on 30 September 1973.
It is owned and managed by Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS), a statutory board under the Ministry of Environment and Water resources.
The Singapore Zoo is located in the Western part of Singapore, at the edge of the city centre, bordering the Southern part of Jurong Bird Park.
River Safari
River Safari is a tropical riverside zoological park located in Singapore.
It is the world’s largest river-based zoological park, and was opened in 2000.
The park presents the biodiversity of freshwater ecosystems in nine thematic zones, each of which represents a different biome of the world.
The park sits on a site of 32 ha of Jurong East.
The site was formerly occupied by a National water-survey station between the 1960s and the 1980s.
River Safari is managed by Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS), a statutory board under the Ministry of Environment and Water resources.
Mandai Orang Utan Sanctuary
The Orangutan Sanctuary is a protected facility located in the Southern part of Singapore.
The sanctuary provides a protected area for orangutan resettlement, and has become a major tourist attraction for visitors to Singapore.
The Orangutan Outreach (OO) team manages the sanctuary, and provides education and research activities for visitors.
The sanctuary is open from 9am to 5pm daily except Mondays (closed), and admission is free.
Visitors can book guided tours and learn about the orangutan and its conservation efforts.
Wildlife Reserves Singapore
The Singapore Zoo, Jurong Bird Park, and the River Safari are all part of Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS), a statutory board under the Ministry of Environment and Water resources.
WRS manages several wildlife parks that are open to the public.
Visitors can experience wildlife in its natural habitat, and learn more about wildlife conservation efforts in the region.
WRS also organises events, workshops, and seminars to engage the public and teach them more about Singapore’s ecosystem and the efforts to protect it.
Borneo Rainforest
The Borneo Rainforest is located at the Singapore Zoo.
It is the world’s largest indoor rainforest, housing a wide variety of flora and fauna from Borneo.
Visitors can experience the jungle environment, and learn more about the animals and plants that are native to the area.
Borneo Rainforest also hosts special education and conservation events for the public.
They are open from 9am to 5pm daily, and admission is free.
Bollywood Zoo
The Bollywood Zoo is located in the Southern part of Singapore, in the Mandai area.
The zoo was opened in 2015, and offers visitors a fun, interactive tour through the various habitats of animals from the Indian subcontinent.
The Bollywood Zoo is open from 9am to 8pm daily, and admission is S$12 for adults and S$6 for children.
Visitors can also purchase a combo ticket that includes entrance to River Safari, Jurong Bird Park, and the Singapore Zoo.
