The best hotel in Quebec: Fairmont Le Château Frontenac

News

During my trip through Canada, I stayed at the best hotel in Quebec, the grand Fairmont Le Château Frontenac. From the Canadian brand Fairmont, the hotel was founded in 1893 and is stunning! Furthermore, a true Quebec attraction, after all, it was once the seat of the government and hosted illustrious figures over the years, from Winston Churchill to celebrities such as Leonardo di Caprio. Certainly an unforgettable stay, worthy of a fairytale! Take the opportunity to also read about what to do in Quebec and Air Canada’s business class.

Location

In the heart of Old Quebec, at the top of the hill, the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac looks like a castle, and can be seen from far away! Quebec is 800 km from Toronto and has around 500 thousand inhabitants. Furthermore, it is the only walled city in North America. In other words, we felt like we were on a movie set, in a small French village!

Already in the lobby, we feel the grandeur of the hotel, which has undergone a million-dollar restoration, without losing its historical essence. So, the classic decor, with lots of wood and gold objects, combines with the modern innovations of the best hotel in Quebec. At night, the hotel lights up and also looks beautiful! So, even if you’re not staying there, it’s worth stopping by to see it.

The rooms

The hotel has 611 rooms and suites, but despite this, it never seems to be full, as its area is huge. My room, for example, was in the Signature Room category, had contemporary decor with sober colors, a desk, king size bed, armchair and TV. But certainly the icing on the cake was the view from the room over Old Quebec. Beautiful! Furthermore, the bathroom, made of white marble, had some personalized amenities.

My very cozy room

In fact, I can’t help but mention the cute welcome treat I received: macarons with emojis! Canadians are really very receptive.

I love being welcomed like this!

Furthermore, the Chateau’s suites are named after famous guests who stayed there, such as the 82 m² Roosevelt Suite. Super spacious and sophisticated, it has several rooms and a stunning view of Quebec. The largest of them, in fact, is the Charles de Gaulle Suite, measuring 93 m².

The gastronomy

The hotel has three restaurants and a bar. Breakfast is served at Place Dufferin, with a super complete buffet, several cold and hot options, and chefs making omelettes to order. The atmosphere is relaxed and elegant, with an outdoor area and a beautiful view of the São Lourenço River. In addition, the restaurant hosts Afternoon Tea with live music every Saturday.

The Champlain Restaurant, run by the chef Stéphane Modat, offers classic regional cuisine, but with modern references. Open only for dinner and brunch on Sundays.

Finally, another classic and elegant environment

Meanwhile, Bistro Le Sam, which opens for lunch and dinner, has fantastic, modern decor, with a ceiling structure that represents the Saint Lawrence River. In fact, also worth mentioning is the beautiful bar and the large windows overlooking the river, as well as the grand wine cellar!

Entrance to the bistro
Certainly a good option is to have a drink before dinner!

In addition, there is also the 1608 Bar, which takes its name from the year Quebec was founded. The bar offers classic cocktails, and a selection of high-quality Canadian cheeses, which come from your exclusive Cheese Room. In other words, a paradise for cheese lovers! Not to mention the exquisite decoration!

So, don’t miss the Cheese Room!

The hotel has a Health Club with an indoor heated pool, hot tub, children’s pool and equipped gym. For those who want to relax, the Spa Le Château Frontenac offers a range of body and facial treatments, as well as manicures and pedicures. Conclusion

Finally, I can’t help but mention that I was recognized by a couple of followers, Isabella and Carlos, from Minas, in the hallway of the Fairmont Le Château, who became my friends and traveling companions! In other words, those surprises that I will never forget 😉
