Yes! When we sleep with damp hair, the strands become more fragile and are therefore more likely to suffer from hair loss. Furthermore, taking a nap with wet locks can also lead to a series of scalp problems, such as dandruff, dermatitis and fungal infections.

According to professional dermatologists, wet hair creates a perfect environment for fungi, as it causes a change in pH in the region, generating infections, the symptoms of which can lead to wounds and hair loss.

Is sleeping with wet hair worse than using a hairdryer?

True! Many people choose to sleep with wet hair because they are afraid of damaging their hair with a hairdryer. However, it is important to remember that this practice is even more harmful.

A great alternative is to dry your locks with a hairdryer and, shortly afterwards, apply a thermal protector, so that the strands are not damaged as much.

If you are one of the people who have no choice but to wash your hair at night, don’t worry! In fact, there are some tips you can follow to avoid damaging your locks when sleeping with wet hair.

  • Dry your hair with a hairdryer and apply thermal protector to the strands (20 cm away);
  • Wait for the hair to be at least damp;
  • Swap cotton sheets for satin.
